Justice Africa Sudan enhances democracy in Sudan and South Sudan at the local, sub-regional, regional, national, and international levels, thereby increasing the legitimacy and accountability of Sudanese and Sudan-wide institutions.

We also educate people about their civil and democratic rights, & we support them in achieving that through peaceful & democratic means.

Capacity-building Training Workshops for Activists & Resistance Committees on Democracy Principles and Social Mobilization:

The aim of the training is to enhance and build the capacities of resistance committees in the principles of democracy, grassroots mobilization, good governance, and the ethics of public service.

The workshop was implemented for 8 different resistance committees in Khartoum:
– Workshop 1: Resistance Committees in Ombadda South – Omdurman.
– Workshop 2: Resistance Committees in Salha – Omdurman.
– Workshop 3: Resistance Committees in AlHaj Yousif – Khartoum.
– Workshop 4: Resistance Committees in Jabra & Dar Alsalam – Khartoum.
– Workshop 5: Resistance Committees in Al-Samerab and Al-Azba – Khartoum.
– Workshop 6: Resistance Committees in Ombadda – Omdurman.

Supporting Democratic Transition and Sustainable Peace in Sudan:

Justice Africa Sudan Organization organized a series of training workshops for active youth in civil society and members of armed movements.

The workshops aimed to build capacities in peacebuilding, social peace, constitutional rights, principles of democracy, and good governance. Additionally, they discussed the political and security situation in Sudan, ongoing conflicts in various regions, and attempted to change some concepts to ensure the attainment of sustainable peace.

The activities of the project included:
– Two Capacity Building Workshops for Civil Democratic Transformation (2 days each)
– Two days Workshop on Peacebuilding and Social Harmony.

Constitutional Principles and Supra-Constitutional Workshop:

The workshop aimed to contribute to the development of a permanent constitution in Sudan, avoiding past pitfalls. Day one saw presentations on various aspects of constitution-making:

Nabil Adeeb discussed constitutional principles and supra-constitutionalism, highlighting the role of the judiciary and the need to learn from South Africa’s experience.

Mohamed Abdel Salam outlined the constitution-making process in Sudan from independence to recent agreements, noting mistakes made due to lack of consultation.

Youssef Adam Bashir emphasized respecting Sudan’s legitimate constitution and addressing issues such as defining it and reinstating its benefits.

Day two’s discussions led to recommendations, including the continuation of constitutional dialogue, clarification of constitutional principles, and adherence to supra-constitutional principles in constitution drafting. Other recommendations focused on societal dialogue, respect for the interim constitution, and adherence to foundational laws.

Justice Africa Sudan Discussion Forum:

The African Justice Organization conducted a series of seminars focusing on various aspects of the crises and current issues in Sudan. These seminars covered topics such as the status of Juba peace negotiations, challenges in peacebuilding, decentralization, federalism, citizenship, self-determination, the economic crisis, the current political situation, and the security and economic situation. Speakers included Dr. Mohamed Jalal Hashem and Mr. Hafez Ismail, who provided insights and expertise on these matters.

The Civil Programme:

The program aims to support and enhance the CPA and sustain peaceful dialogue, with a view to achieving an inclusive and peaceful democratic society.

The project will achieve these goals by:

(a) Assisting a wide range of Sudanese civil society organizations to work together, advocate for and defend their collective interests; and

(b) Impressing a civil agenda onto the transition period, this guarantees civil rights, pluralism, social and economic justice and accountability, the rule of law and peace in Sudan.
